History

Beginnings

Aya was born on the 2nd of February, 24 long years ago. She was the second of 4 kids (Older sister and a pair of younger siblings (One girl, one boy)). Aya was the odd one out of the bunch and didn’t get out a whole lot as a child. Her parents were nothing of note, her father being a banker and her mother a former educator. Her older sister was always at the center of her parents and societies attention. She was a gifted student, and athlete and very charismatic in general. On the other hand, Aya was far more introverted and kept herself inside, taking time to study art instead. Her pictures got people’s attention, but it was never enough to turn people away from her superior sibling.

Things changed however for the worse, on her 13th birthday when her parents were killed in a bank robbery. The older sibling, now in her late teens (18), decided to try and raise the other three siblings. She moved to another city to find work, leaving Aya and her younger siblings to live on their own. This left the burden of raising the younger children (Sister was 5, brother was 4) to Aya who decided now would be a good time to further her art study.

Abandoned

Over the next three years, with money coming in from her sister, Aya continued her art study while finishing her schooling. At the same time, she became very protecting of her younger siblings and had to protect them from all manner of bullies. This would later make her protective of anyone she knew who was younger than her. At around the time Aya was 17, her older sister, now 23, stopped sending money. This left the younger siblings to fend for themselves.

Discovery

Having been abandoned, Aya had no choice but to start selling her art publicly, making slim pickings on each painting. She often found that her best works that sold for the most were paintings she made during bad weather such as rain, snow or fog and the like. One such painting got the attention of a Yellow Comet military officer who offered Aya a deal. In exchange for a few military based works, the officer would pay for her to go to a military school and he would have his family raise the younger siblings. This was too good to be true and she accepted on the spot. Not being much of a soldier, she opted to focus on intelligence gather and support roles instead of combat. She wound up excelling in her studies and she continued painting. Her happiness was short lived however. Her first painting which she tried to embellish with some creative touches made the officer angry and he threatened to throw her on the streets along with her siblings. This prompted her to paint in a very boring fashion and she was disappointed that her talent was being wasted for battlefield works. This caused her no end of frustration but she had to swallow her pride and continued painting

Military Service

Upon her graduation from the academy, she was appointed to Yellow Comets military intelligence department as a low ranking officer. Finally having a stable job and income, she parted ways with the officer and was able to provide a comfortable living for her siblings. She continued work and realized her power after having a conversation with her superior. During a training exercise, her superior had begun complaining that she wasn’t incorporating the weather into her strategy. One snarky comment later and the weather at the area of the exercise changed from sunshine to downpour and thunderstorms. This prompted her evaluation by senior command for an appointment as a CO.

Personality

Aya has the personality one would expect from a budding artist. She thinks very highly of her work, but is very dismissive of pieces she was forced to make, such as the ones painted for the officer. Other than that, she is a very introverted person who tends to keep to herself when she can. She enjoys her time alone as it gives her a chance to try and focus on her painting and dig herself out of the creative slumps she often gets herself in. When with other people, she will make an effort to be sociable, but she has trouble with it given that most of her life she spent either alone or raising her younger brother and sister. Is also very protective of those younger than her, due to her history of protecting her siblings from bullies.

Relationships

As a fresh CO, Aya has gotten little time to really get to know her subordinates, but has gotten to meet all of them and spend time with them. She greatly respects Ken due to his position and authority, but she finds him rather impulsive and takes too many risk. Hanako on the other hand, Aya greatly admires and sees her as a calm and cool intellectual that knows to plan ahead. Aya feels that she can learn a lot from Hanako, as she is a far more experienced commander.

Other than her immediate superior, Aya has also met Commander Sheppard of Green Earth. She didn't spend a great deal of time with him when they did meet, but she respect his devotion to duty and his willingness to protect his allies. She feels he is a very noble person and is a credit to his nation.
