History
Before the military
Hanako was born on 26th of October, 26 years ago in Tenebeta. Little is known about her family, but she worked at a flower shop called Midori no Hana during her school years.
Hanako studied at Ikoya University and left with a doctorate in botany. It was during this time that her CO Powers surfaced completely by accident, which she kept secret until her course was finished. Eventually she forgot about it and worked with civillian companies in developing new technologies. Her powers surfaced again, leading her to enlist in the military.
As a CO
Hanako was appointed as a CO in January, aged 25. During the Yellow Comet Civil War, she helped to defend against Greg and Haynes' forces. After this, she was appointed as the Emperor's second-in-command.
When Emi came to live in the HQ, Hanako took Emi under her wing and trained her to be a CO in secret. At first she used conventional classroom methods but later switched to teaching Emi theory and then applying it. For example, when she taught Emi about terrain during a water fight.
Hanako achieved the rank of second-in-command to Ken and head of research. Amongst her inventions are Masako troopers, Hovertanks and Nanomachines. She was also a member of Task Force Bad Wolf, a group formed to investigate the mysterious appearance of a woman resembling one of the Abandonato twins. She also led the evacuation of AB04 alongside Ken and Aya, until she was snatched away.
Personality
Hanako was a quiet sort who spent a lot of time thinking. When she had to give an opinion, however, she tended to say a lot very quickly and monotonously. She was knowledgeable not only regarding plants and military matters, but also history, PE, chemistry, art and aikido. She is also known for going barefoot most of the time, which led to some accusations of her being a hippie. She chose to do so as a relaxation habit rather than as a fashion statement, however.
Unusually for a scientist, Hanako believes in some superstitions and follows some Shintoist beliefs. To some extent she may be justified in believing in some superstitions, since her creative and calm, yet fastiduous personality matches her A+ blood type.
Relationships
Hanako is infatuated with Ken, but this remains unrequieted. She also got on well with Emi, despite their initial differences.
On the other hand, she disliked Haynes for his treachery, but not as much as she loathes Greg. Hanako doesn't believe that helping her and Ken out of the trap that Empress set for them redeems him for starting the Yellow Comet Civil War, and then abandoning his position when given a second chance - a chance she doesn't believe he deserved. The grudge is strengthened by the fact that Haynes was executed for what she believed to be a less heinous offence. However, she has recently learned to trust him to do tasks, somewhat.
She has adopted something of a maternal role to the rest of the Yellow Comet COs but had a little bit of an attraction to Ryouta. She has started acting more like a friend to him than a love interest, however.
Outside of Yellow Comet, Hanako has a tremendous amount of respect and admiration for Procella, showing honest regret when she had to blockade the Primorsky Islands. She also gets on well with Sheppard.

Trivia
- Like the rest of PanicAttack's COs, Hanako's name is related to flowers, translating as "flower child".
- Hanako's surname is related to trees, as are Ken, Sae, Emi and Miyu's. Hanako's surname simply means "forest"
- As such, Hanako's name reflects her abilities - they relate to her strength in areas with high concentrations of plantlife.
- As a confirmed bisexual, Hanako is also the first confirmed LGBT player character, but third overall after Reagan and Abigail. Orville and Lukas are also LGBT.
- Hanako has similarities to many Advance Wars in-game COs.
- Hanako's name is similar to Jess's Japanese name, Hannah. Both have earth-related powers, including the ability to make vehicles move further. Hanako also used to have ammo-related abilities, which Jess does.
- Hanako has the shortest CO Power Meter in the RP, tied with the main series' Adder.
- Hanako is also somewhat like Lash, being a scientist with terrain-based powers.
