Knife

Stanley "Knife" Orwell is a Non-Player Character from Orange Star. He was Maria's personal aide when she was Commander in Chief.

History

Early Life

When Stanley was young his parents abandoned him leaving him at the front door to an orphanage in Dakota. Whilst at the orphanage he befriended a young anemic girl named Laura and promised to run away with her when they were older. However Stan was adopted and moved away to South Cascade where he was educated in science by his foster parents.

As Maria's Aide

Years later, Stan was appointed as Maria's personal aide by order of high command and his foster father. Stan's job was to keep an eye on Maria to make sure she did exactly as she was told and made the right decisions. Stan tried his best to push Maria in several different directions, particularly towards war. After Maria's first encounter with Viola, Stan increased his surveillance on Maria, in a sort of attempt to protect her. Due to Stan's actions and the way he spoke to foreigners and even to his colleagues Maria forbid him to attend any form of political meeting.

When Maria fell ill after the SMART attacks Stan took over as temporary Commander in Chief, during this time he orchestrated the attack on Dakota that led to the second Dakota War. It was his plan to capture both Don and Madison and keep them captive till after the war. However his plan backfired as Viola launched a surprise attack on Ozark and Don escaped captivity. After Maria was assassinated by Don, Stan fell into a pit of despair and self-pity. He left Liberty Spire to visit Ozark, where Maria's real parents were buried in hopes that they might forgive him for his negligence.

Under Dart

Stan returned to Orange Star after an extended leave of absence, asking for his job back as aide to the Commander-in-Chief. Whilst Dart was not willing to employ him as an aide, he did employ him to essentially act as a secretary and to keep an eye on the other COs. Since his return however, he has done very little than aggravate those who he should be keeping an eye on. Particularly Madison.

When the COs became infected with the virus Stan contacted an 'old work friend' by the name of Eleanor Davies. Since her arrival however, Stan has been acting aiding her work more than helping Orange Star overcome their own problems.

Personality

Stan was a snide, he spoke down on many people and even enjoyed teasing or tormenting them. He generally had a quick witted come back for anything that was said to him. Though under the snide facade Stan was a loyal subordinate who cared for Maria and for Orange Star as a country.

Stan has a short temper as well, though he never truly lashed out at people, he kept his anger inside and slowly released it as he made his snide remarks.

Relationships

Stan was well renowned within the Orange Star army and it earned him limited respect amongst the COs within his country. Other then that, besides Maria, Stan rarely conversed with the other COs.

Outside of Orange Star Stan was a bit nefarious. He shared a mutual hate for Viola and took great time and pleasure in taunting her in hopes of getting a response. His manner of speaking and his attitude got him into trouble on numerous occasions with foreign leaders, Emperor Ken once broke his nose after Stan had interrupted a very important world meeting.
