Maria Onette was a Commanding Officer from Orange Star. For a period of time she was the Commander in Chief.

History
Before military education
Maria was born in a small town located close to the Orange Star/Blue Moon border. Her home town was caught in the middle of battle between the two nations. Maria's parents were killed during the attack and she was saved by an Orange Star soldier. After the attack Maria searched the remains of her house, in the hopes of finding her parents but all she found was a doll that her mother had made her years ago.
Those that survived the attack were quickly moved to North Cascade. Maria was taken to an orphanage where she lived in solitude. She confided only in the doll and identified it as her mother, due to the resemblance. It was only a matter of years though before she was adopted.
Military education
Maria was sent to North Cascade Military Academy by her foster parents. She was one of the youngest students to enroll at the time and because of this she didn't get a warm welcome. Due to her quiet demeanor and lack of assertion she was bullied by the majority of the students. The fact that she was never seen without her doll was another source of ridicule. However a few years into her education she had a violent outburst where she injured a few bullies after they attempted to steal her doll, from that moment onwards she was generally ignored by the rest of the students.
Her abilities however were not widely recognised within the academy, it was only after the final examinations that her potential was seen. Maria scored the highest ever recorded scores in both of her chosen subjects (History and Strategy). This was much to the surprise of many of her teachers who thought of her as a 'lost cause'.
Military Career - As a CO
Maria graduated from North Cascade Military Academy at the age of 19 and was quickly enlisted into the Orange Star army as a Commanding Officer. During her service under Commander Zephyr she managed to secure a Non-Aggressive Pact with Yellow Comet and led Orange Star forces in Red Valley.
Military Career - Before SMART
After the disappearance of Commander Zephyr a joint decision by Orange Star's former high command to install Maria as the new Commander in Chief. This decision that Maria's foster father had a lot of sway in. Due to Maria's inexperience high command sent Stanley Orwell to act as her aide and also to keep tabs on her. Due to Stanley's personal features Maria nicknamed him Knife, this name quickly spread throughout the entire Orange Star military.
It wasn't long before Maria's abilities were put to the test, a short time after her promotion Orange Star was attacked by both Blue Moon and Green Earth. In an attempt to peacefully resolve the situation Maria went to Ozark to talk with their commanding officer. Due to Yellow Comet intervention Maria was able to organise a Non-Aggressive Pact with Blue Moon, however in this time Green Earth were successful in claiming Dakota. After a failed liberation attempt Maria met with the Green Earth Commander Viola, their first meeting ended in Maria having another violent outburst as her doll was taken by Viola. After the encounter Viola stopped the Green Earth invasion and an agreement was made between the two nations.
SMART Attacks
During the first wave of SMART attacks Maria, with the help of Viola and Greg, led a defensive mission against Aaron when he attempted to claim Hudson. There was little SMART activity in Orange Star thereafter, this was mostly do with Aries ArmsCorp paying off SMART. It wasn't until Orange Star received word of a SMART base located south of Dakota that Orange Star engaged SMART again. During this second battle Maria and Dart forcefully initiated a tag power, whilst Dart was unaffected Maria fell ill during the battle. Maria was unable to command properly for the rest of the campaign but was still present to help inspire the troops. After the SMART lab was raided Maria witnessed the death of Vogel by Dart's hands. A sight that shocked and slightly traumatised her further.
Maria's assassination
Following the SMART campaign Maria was back to doing what she usually did, making sure Orange Star was running smoothly. Her aide, Knife, piled pressure on her, eventually she collapsed from fatigue and was bed ridden. It was during this moment that Knife took over as CiC temporarily as a means to relieve Maria from her duties. Whilst she was recovering Knife secretly organised the attack on Dakota, Maria eventually found her laptop which contained detailed files on plan, including the capture of Green Earth COs Don and Madison. Maria was morally against the plan, but had no time to talk this over with Knife. During the confusion caused by Don's escape Maria confronted him and tried to reason with him. Don believed everything Maria was saying was a lie and killed her.
Personality
Maria was typically quiet and a diligent worker. She treated everyone she met in a friendly manner if possible and tried her best to resolve things peacefully. She was naïve and cautious to a fault, unable to bring herself to wage battles that she believed didn't need fighting. Maria suffered from attachment issues in that everyone she met in person she replicated them in the form of a doll. She did this so that they would never leave her side again. Despite her appearance, Maria is actually very intelligent.
Relationships
Maria's relationships with her most of her colleagues was professional, she did her best to make sure they were happy and only asked that they did their best.
The only real person who was particularly close to Maria was her aide, Knife. Maria had a tenuous relationship with him, this was mostly because Knife tried to force his ideals on her and was prone to acting out in front of foreign envoys.
Maria had a strong relationship with Yellow Comet, in particular Emperor Ken and Commander Gregor. Maria made a lasting impression on both and due to this was aided when Blue Moon invaded Ozark. Maria was unaware, however, of Gregor's feelings towards her.
