Orange Star is one of the four dominant countries of Cosmo Land.

A Brief History of History

After the events of the Macrocosm Separation - when the countries of Cosmo Land seceded from their dominant Macro Land counterparts - the Orange Star Parliamentary Council came to power. Similar to the United State's Congress, or the United Kingdom's Parliament, the Council was ruled by a Chairman. At the start of the RP, Orange Star's chairman was William Richmond.

Alongside Parliament stood the Orange Star Military Council, a similar organisation of generals, admirals and other commanders that controlled the military. When the Orange Star sub-state Red Valley successfully became independent due to the overly bureaucratic nature of the Council, it was abolished in favour of a more hierarchal system. As such, Zephyr became Orange Star's first Commander-in-Chief.

Zephyr Era

Zephyr's command began with a massive recruitment campaign for COs. From the candidates, D, Maria and Mech were chosen.

To re-establish diplomatic channels with the rest of the continent, the three subordinates were sent to each Cosmo Land country on a peace mission. Mech was sent to Blue Moon, and promptly got lost in the country, never to be seen again. Maria was sent to Yellow Comet, and she returned with positive feelings. Lastly, D was sent to Green Earth. Despite being ordered to go unarmed, D took his own unit of special forces soldiers, Rabbit Squad, with him, an act that deeply offended Green Earth's Field Marshall, Viola. This event laid the foundations of an ongoing rivalry between the two countries.

Skirmish in Red Valley & command shakeup

Soon after the abolishment of the Military Council, Red Valley had recovered enough to formally declare independence. Red Valley's leader, former Orange Star CO Eustace, invited the leaders of the continent's main powers to a formal dinner in celebration, which Zephyr attended alongside his contemporaries; Viola, Boreas and Ken.

The celebrations turned sour, however, when the event was stormed by terrorists acting on the orders of an unknown woman. Taking the attendees hostage and killing Eustace, the COs were eventually rescued by an allied Cosmo Land force. The terrorists were all killed, or fled, and their leader was never seen or heard from again. During this time, Orange Star gained two new COs in John and Ned.

Eventually, however, Zephyr retired as CiC.

Maria Era

Left with little other choice, Parliament chose Maria to succeed Zephyr, despite her young age and inexperience. They believed they could easily manipulate her, and to that end she was assigned a new assistant in Knife.

Maria's first few days of command were marred by two declarations of war, from Blue Moon and Green Earth, beginning the First Dakota War.

First Dakota War

The war began with Blue Moon forces, under the leadership of Lorin, crossing the border into Ozark. Almost simultaneously, Green Earth began an attack on Dakota Island.

While the war began badly for Orange Star, they received help when Yellow Comet invaded Blue Moon from the east. Blue Moon withdrew from Ozark, leaving Orange Star to fight Green Earth over Dakota, giving the war it's name. However, the battle continued to turn in their enemies favour, and Orange Star lost control of Dakota Island. While a ceasefire was organised, Green Earth retained the Island for now.

Soon after, another blow was struck - Zephyr was assassinated, although it later transpired that the assassins only killed a body double.

SMART

Eventually, the culprits of Zephyr's 'murder' were revealed - SMART, or Specialist Manufacturing And Research Technology, a company that supplied over 25% of Orange Star's weapons. SMART's offer was simple - pay them a large portion of the countries income daily, or SMART will turn their weapons on Orange Star. Maria, of course, denied their offer. SMART's response was blunt and to the point: "An unwise choice."
