History
Before the CDF
Viola was born on 1st August, 27 years ago, a few minutes before her identical twin, Rosabella. Her parents ran a pest extermination business.
Viola hated her given name Juliet during her school years due to some of the things that bullies had said to her because she was named after the tragic Shakesperean character, Juliet Capulet. As such, very few people outside of her immediate family were allowed to call her by that name.
As a soldier
Despite how she was treated, Viola was successful in her education and left university with a PhD in toxicology. She joined the CDF afterwards, working as a general assistant with the anti-personnel forces. During one mission alongside Orange Star, she developed a deep hatred for how she was treated as a sex icon while her fellow Green Earth soldiers treated her as a comrade. It was during this war that her CO Powers first surfaced.
With the revelation of her powers, Viola was given officer training and became a CO. Due to her dedication to duty, she was appointed as Field Marshal after her predecessor retired, making her the first Italicolonian to hold that title.
Project Sterminio
Project Sterminio was an experiment devised by then-Field Marshal Sepp Mengele. After Viola was appointed the rank of Brigadier, a rank granted to a lot of trainee-COs, she was to have her CO Powers tested to see if it could be fashioned into some kind of weapon. Soldiers were offered "monetary incentives" to take part in the experiment during which Viola was put on sedatives and tortured until the stress made her activate her CO Power.
The soldiers in the lab where the experiment took place were afflicted. Out of the fifty "volunteers", ten died instantly. Only five percent of the survivors went on to not have health complications later in life since when the Sterminio document was published. Those complications included stomach cramps, diarrhoea, vomiting and in a few cases, insanity. A cover story about a virus was issued.
Due to the sedatives Viola was put on, she has no memory of these events. However, after Madison found the document, she read it and ended up feeling guilty about it.
Before SMART
Shortly after Viola was appointed as Field Marshal, she became eager to make Green Earth the dominant superpower in Cosmo Land. When D came to her regarding a peace treaty, she turned him away violently due to him carrying special forces units. Later, she was taken hostage by Red Valley and was eventually rescued by D's forces, much to her annoyance. However, she also signed an alliance with Emperor Kobayashi and Yellow Comet shortly after, due to how their forces worked together during the Red Valley scenario.
Later on, Eva Lorin requested Viola's assistance in invading Orange Star. She agreed and the two began a pincer movement. While Viola was successful in taking over Dakota Island, Lorin's forces were forced to retreat due to Yellow Comet counteroffensives. Further invasions were called off when some Green Earth units commited the war crime of attacking units that had already surrendered.
SMART Attacks
When SMART's initial invasion took place, Viola tried to make up for the events on Dakota by lending some support to Orange Star. During this time, she attempted to befriend Maria Onette but was kept at a distance by Knife. She then called the COs of the various countries together to try and formulate a plan to rid the planet of SMART once and for all.
However, SMART had their own ideas. While Viola was on a trip to Yellow Comet, they attacked again. Viola and Ken teamed up and held them off. When she returned, she then helped Don to break the SMART siege at Roma Grande. Their CO, Maurice was taken prisoner. Viola then rallied the nations of Cosmo Land for a second time and attacked SMART's vassal islands.
The Second Dakota War and aftermath
After the gang war at Dakota Island was quelled, the pro-Green Earth Terra Lords began a campaign of destruction on Orange Star soil. Viola was blamed for this and Orange Star launched an attack to take back Dakota Island. After they were successful, Viola met with Tsarina-General Procella to allow troops to be moved through Blue Moon and into Ozark. Viola captured Ozark but was shot in her left arm.
As well as being physically wounded, Viola became emotionally unstable as a result. She had her twin sister Rosabella imitate her and took time off without the other COs finding out. She returned after a few weeks off, the only sign of anything ever happening to her being a few scars on her left arm.
Shortly after returning, Viola found documents about Project Sterminio on Madison's desk. She was initially guilty about it, before snapping and planning to hunt Madison down. She was able to surpress those feelings and hide them when Hunter came over from Yellow Comet for a tech trade, and used the visit as an excuse to socialise with him in order to keep her emotions in check. After he went away, Viola reverted back to manic anger and assembled her remaining COs to form a plan to capture Madison for what she had done. An opportunity came up thanks to Merlin, but Viola didn't act upon it, wanting to be in direct control of the people to deal with Madison.
Macro Land Intervention
Viola was later contacted by Field Marshal Felix Klossner of the Macro Land Green Earth forces, who wanted to add Cosmo Land Green Earth back into their forces. Viola met with Klossner, but Thor had to take over the meeting since Viola had to go to the infirmary with her arm. Klossner was denied the right to field troops in Cosmo Land and returned to Macro Land.
Later, she and Thor attended a meeting in Blue Moon with the other Cosmo Land nations in order to discuss Macro Land's actions. They decided that they needed to take action in preparation for an invasion from Macro Land. However, Viola found some of the other COs to be indecisive and neurotic, much to her annoyance. However, they all agreed that they needed a variety of units and would lend each other forces.
Viola and Thor formulated a plan to patrol the various regions of Green Earth. However, the plan didn't get put into action as Macro Land forces attacked too swiftly. Due to the attack and similar others, Coalition President Black placed Green Earth under martial law. Thor was promoted to Field Marshal and Viola gave herself a new title: Maresciella di Campo Superiore.
Downfall
After being tipped off about Madison's presence in Orange Star again, she went and captured the renegade CO during the Macro Land Invasion. After not getting a response from Madison following a set of degrading trials, she was driven over the edge when her own sister Rosabella openly took sympathy on Madison and after Thor had questioned Viola's actions. She then broke down, ordering the same fate as Madison for Rosabella. As she became progressively more enraged, she inadvertantly triggered her CO Power, killing a guard.
However, Rosabella survived and Viola passed out through a combination of asphyxation and exhaustion. She was taken away and revived and spent some time in an asylum before Kiku was hired to break her out.
Return
Despite saying she wouldn't Viola has returned to the GE military, having grown tired of civilian life and feeling like her skills are wasted outside of the military.
Personality
Viola was known for being a bit manic. She seemed to have boundless amounts of energy which could manifest itself in a number of ways. While she was usually cheerful and teasing, she was very hard to restrain when angry. She's also known to be patriotic, referring to Green Earth as an "empire" on occasion.
During her breakdown she became more and more volatile and paranoid, believing that despite having total authority in Green Earth, nobody wanted to follow her. Reports from the asylum say that she hasn't spoken since being committed.
Viola has mellowed out but retains a sense of cynicism. She believes that she probably should be in charge of the military due to having more experience than the other COs, but knows that she was pretty new herself when she was put in charge and that the stress of the job is what partly contributed to her downfall before.
Relationships
Viola generally got along with her fellow COs. There was no bad blood between her and Raoul or Stevan, but their relationship is strictly professional.
However, Viola had a mutual infatuation with Thor. The two have contemplated upgrading their relationship beyond friendship, but never acted on it.
By contrast, Viola and Madison have a bit of a rift in their relationship. They are known to argue with each other for a number of reasons, many relating to the CDF's reactions to recent international incidents, as well as Viola's general dislike of Orange Star.

Trivia
- Like the rest of PanicAttack's characters, Viola's name is related to flowers. Viola is the Italian word for "violet", as well as the name of the plant species which includes violets and pansies.
- Viola's given and middle names are those of Shakespeare characters - Juliet is one of the title characters from Romeo and Juliet, while Viola is the protagonist of Twelfth Night. Her twin sister, Rosabella Miranda, also has a Shakespearean middle name.
- Viola has been responsible for the development of more units in Green Earth than anyone else - with the exception of their imported technology and the Yormungand, she at least came up with the basic idea for all of them.
